A really nice choice for a bedtime book. The art is gorgeous and dreamy. The repetition of "To ocean's child we say goodnight. Good night, little __, good night" gives young ones an easy opportunity to chime in on every spread, and the choices of Alaskan animals is cool. On some pages, the lines don't scan exactly to fit the rhythm established in the beginning, but I like that it has a flow without forcing rhymes. Nice.

I gave this book a 3 star because while the illustrations and colors were beautiful and the story was a good one for the age group intended, I just don't think it is a book I would go back to again and again. It was a lovely experience but I did not love it.
