The more Christies I read the less I like them. Passage of time, the world is changing, etc.
Poirot himself is fine, but the plot is simply a jumble of red herrings assembled into a puzzle for the sake of a puzzle, not because there's a story to tell.

The key to solving the puzzle turned out to be one of those things that makes you want to throw the book across the room. Here's a spoiler that doesn't completely give it away:
Spoiler Imagine that a murderer is seen driving away in a lime green Lamborghini with jacked-up suspension and "Rick Astley Rules" painted on the side. Poirot investigates, and eventually discovers that there are TWO line green Lambos exactly like that.

And really - the mysterious Australian again? Maybe Christie invented it, but that doesn't help. Wills, secret panels, loyal housekeepers, ... again, maybe these were all new in 1935 but they are tedious now.

I recommend approaching this story as a museum piece.
