I love Sy Montgomery and Nic Bishop books. I even loved their tarantula book, in spite of the topic. But who couldn't love these tree kangaroos? Adorable subject, fantastic writing, and shout out for the great Michigan photographer!

I loved The Soul of the Octopus, so when I saw this book by Sy Montgomery, I knew I had to read it. It made me miss my Ecology days and the work in the field I used to do. I also want to visit Papua New Guinea next :-)

This is the third collaboration between Montgomery and Bishop that Amber and I have read. We’re huge fans and this book was as great as we expected it to be.

One of the reasons we love these Scientist in the Field books is that they give a true picture of the work the biologists and their teams do. Amber loves animals of all kinds and her current ambition is to become a wildlife biologist, so this was perfect. Lisa Dabek is a woman who has overcome obstacles and is doing all she can to help the creatures she loves, a great role model for young girls who are interested in science and nature. We also learn about the tools they use and all the supplies they need for this type of expedition.

I really can’t recommend this book enough for middle school age kids. It’s an easy to read, informative, fun non-fiction book, which is not as easy to come by for this age group as I think it should be.

young readers interested in biology or conservation would love this. It reads like an exciting field manual and makes you feel like you're along on the expedition.

Loved all the beautiful pictures throughout the book. This book is written so kids can easily understand what is happening and learn how the scientist study the Tree Kangaroo in the wild.

Did you know there are kangaroos that live in trees? I had no idea! Or if I did ever know, I didn't remember. But now I feel like I know all about them! With Sy Montgomery's amazing text and Nic Bishop's even more amazing photographs, I felt like I was right there with their team in the cloud forest of Papua New Guinea making all sorts of new discoveries. I was so interested in the story and the things I was learning, that I was sad when I got to the end of the book. Now I need to find a zoo that has tree kangaroos so I can see them in person! It's either that or plan a trip to New Guinea. :)
