such a good conclusion to this series,
most importantly because of the hope for the dragons. and I am super glad the book took its time to resolve so many little open things and didn't just end with killing the king
. always loved the inheritance cycle, and rereading it as a grownup just made me realize how much paolini improved as a writer over the course of the four books. he grew alongside eragon and that makes me happy:)

I liked the series. The last couple books there were times that it felt like it went on and on with nothing important and could have been cut down. Though it wasn't terribly boring to even read through those parts. A very typical fantasy read. Even the when I thought it was close to the end it kept going for a bit.

I was so excited for this book to come out. I thought the rest of the series was interesting to read and engaging. However, when I started this one, it started so slow and I kept waiting for the action. Now I am 2/3 the way through the book and I have trouble picking it up to finish. I have a feeling it will just be sitting on the table for awhile. Especially since I have trouble avoiding even mild spoilers. I am a person who has to finish a book no matter how I feel about it though. It might be a long time from now.
UPDATE:
Finally finished this. It ended well but disappointing. Makes me wonder why I even bothered to finish it. The last few chapters seemed unnecessary. A disappointing end to an imaginative series. I'm just glad that I managed to get it checked off my list.

I didn’t dislike it. It’s just, after so many pages, I feel like I should feel more fulfilled. I know other books leave you wanting more too and are the last in their series, but this are…different from Inheritance I feel like, though I can’t explain why or how.
Arya a dragon rider- yes. I am glad and wanted this to happen.
Now was I expecting her and Eragon to suddenly be together at some point? No, I like that she’s a strong woman who stood her ground and seemed unsure of how she felt toward him sometimes anyway. But I also am just like…Paolini set it up but didn’t?

Eragon using a spell somehow to make Galbatorix “understand?” Yeah, not sure how I’m feeling toward that either. Why couldn’t Galbatorix be evil and beyond understanding? Things he did certainly track with that. I feel like this was a sort of cop out to avoid character deaths or a more in-depth battle scene with Galbatorix involved.

Controlling the entire ancient language and therefore magic with its true name is unique to me and an interesting twist, I’ll give it that. I was expecting a more predictable route- Galbatorix finding out Eragon and Saphira’s true names or vice versa. So I’m glad it wasn’t entirely predictable. Also love that Urgals and Dwarves could be Riders now- because why not?

I am unsatisfied with not learning more about Angela, the werecats who just happen and exist, Murtagh and Thorn feeling unfinished since they just left and disappeared….

The series is a good read.
