I liked this volume better than the last one so I might actually continue reading the series. If I don't I'll just watch the show.

Why are there so many queer pedophile characters in Japanese manga? It feeds the problematic narrative.

one of the characters is an adult trans woman living with her husband and they both don’t come off very well. the husband gropes yoshino to check if hes actually a boy or if he’s just a girl. his wife the trans woman wants to sleep and shower with yoshino as well. I looked this up and I saw somewhere saying this had something to do with her missing out on being a girl as a child and wants to experience it. however, I don’t think this was the way to approach that or even include it because this is not clarified in the book. and people who read this book or the series may leave thinking trans women are predators. I think this should’ve been done better.

Perhaps it's the mangaka's intent — but I can only tell the characters apart when they are dressed to fit their gender, rather than the one assigned at birth. This volume though has both main characters forced back to being their assigned at birth genders at school to avoid teasing — or because of the teasing.
