This is Book 1 of The 'We Sit Pets' Series was so funny and a proper cosy read.

We follow Monica, having given up her grad scheme position in a finance firm and ends up teaming with her brother Paddy in the dog walking business.

Of course, Monica being Monica goes all in and essentially becomes a dog walking agency... with hilarious dog antics , strange walkers, and Boot Camp Dan. I filly expected this to get crazy!

The 'Winkle' episode nearly ended me, and of course, there's more crammed in there 😆.

Then a murd3r happens... death by dumbell to be exact... I shouldn't have laughed, but it was very poetic given the very rude and social media 'star'!

I love Monica she is such a fabulous character. In fact, all the Walkers are brilliant and so different... from an ex Librarian to a wannabe Comedian who isn't all that funny. It's a brilliant mix in the agency, and the character relationships and overall dymanics were great.

This book is funny and even though it's a murder mystery, it's a lovely cosy book with lots of laughs along the way as you (along with Monica) try and work out who the kill3r is.

Will Monica clear her name? You'll have to read the book to find out.

Here’s my review for The Bootcamp Murder by Matthew Ross

This was a fantastic read with some laugh out loud moments in the book. Will definitely be reading the next one in the series as this is a great cozy crime read. It has a great easy to read style and is written really well. The story gels together well and the plotting is excellent. The attention to detail is good and the explanations are very down to earth. Monica, quits her job and takes up dog walking and then sets up a business of it, organising the others in the group so she does all the paperwork. They have trouble with Bootcamp Dan and unfortunately he gets killed. Who killed him? Keeps you guessing as to who did the deed. Even has a good cop, bad cop to the mix. A good fun read which I enjoyed immensely.

Blurb :

An an ambitious high-achieving young woman, unfairly bullied from her job, her career in ruins; her brother, a charming slacker getting by on good looks and charisma; an out-of-control unstoppable terrier called Winkle, and a popular social media star bludgeoned to death - who said pet-sitting would be a walk in the park?

Monica was on the corporate ladder striving to be a high-flying executive, but when the misogynistic bullying from the privileged pale stale male became too much she snapped and quit on the spot. At her lowest ebb, a chance remark from her charming slacker brother Paddy identifies a business opportunity – she becomes a pet-sitter! She’s enthusiastic, she loves animals, and she’s got the management skills: it’s bound to be a success, isn’t it?

Monica quickly finds dealing with her team of misfits as easy as herding kittens.

Monica and Paddy soon very publicly clash with a much beloved personal trainer that has made their local park his own personal kingdom. However, after he is brutally murdered with his own dumbbell, legions of his online devotees are quick to pronounce Monica guilty in the court of social media opinion.

When the demands for retribution threaten to overspill into Monica’s real life, she knows she must find the killer before the lynch mob comes for her

This delightful, cozy mystery, hopefully the inaugural installment of a series, kept me thoroughly entertained. The side characters were all engaging, and I eagerly anticipate seeing more of them in future installments.

Monica walks out of her office job after being fed up of her bullying boss. She joins her brother Paddy and his other dog walking friends and 'We Sit Pets' is born. In the local park they are very much disliked by 'Boot Camp Dan' and the feeling is mutual. When Dan turns up dead all eyes are on them.

This was a lovely cosy mystery and so easy to read. The characters were very much believable and I loved the brother/sister banter between Monica and Paddy. There was a lot of humour in this too, especially surrounding Detective Canning. I just laughed at him thinking he was Columbo. I guessed who did it, but didn't figure out the reason why.

In "The Boot Camp Murder," author Matthew Ross writes about Monica's exciting and funny life journey. She is a young person who works hard but gets poorly treated by others at her job. It makes her rethink things in "The Boot Camp Murder." When her job was gone, Monica's brother Paddy said they should try something new - taking care of animals. They didn't know their choice would take them into a puzzle of trouble and risk.

Ross does a great job of making characters easy to understand and well thought out. Monica is a brave and strong main character who won't let problems break her spirit. Paddy, though, makes the story more lovely and funny with his easy-going nature. The two's interaction is both fun and sweet, so it's simple for readers to cheer them on in their success.

The story of "The Boot Camp Murder" is exciting and fun, with surprising changes that keep readers interested. The killing of a famous internet person makes the tale even more exciting. Monica and Paddy are in trouble because they get involved with people's thoughts on social media, including mob justice that might follow them. The book gets more exciting as it goes on, making people want to read until they finish.

Ross's skill to mix laughter with excitement is a big thing in this book. The small, funny group of pet sitters that Monica creates makes the story even more enjoyable. From the funny little dog Winkle to the strange pet owners, these characters have many jokes that make people laugh. "The Boot Camp Murder" is fun and exciting because it mixes humor with suspense.

"The Boot Camp Murder" is a great mystery story. It's funny and exciting with people you can connect to. Matthew Ross's writing is fun and engaging, so it's hard to stop reading the book. If you like reading stories about mysteries or want to laugh, this book will make you happy. I suggest "The Boot Camp Murder" to anyone who wants a fun and exciting book.
