Casstiel Born of Lightning by Sheri-Lynn Marean

5 stars!!!!!

I love dragons. I also love finding new authors and getting thei r take on dragons. This book was
a bonus for me as I not only found a brilliant new author but I have also found a new dragon.
This book had me hooked from page one and kept me on till the very end.

The whole forbidden love or I cannot love my enemy theme to this book really added to the tensions a
of this book. I could feel Cassiel's emotions as he was torn between his lost soul mate and the
new love that fate threw into his path. I was so glad that Ashara was able to get underneath his
scales so to speak. I really found myself routing for Ashara. This book will definitely be a book
I will read over and over again. I really look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Casstiel; Born of Lightening: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind – 52 Realms)
By Sheri-Lynn Marean

This was an absolutely amazing read! I am quite new to this type of genre and I wasn’t sure if I would like it but oh my gosh I did! I loved every second that I read. I was hooked from the very first page until the end. The author took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. The story was full of love, loss, action, drama, heartache and so much more. The story was so well written, the pace and flow were excellent and the glossary at the beginning was a great addition to the story – it meant I wasn’t guessing the meanings of some of the words. I really liked Casstiel and the journey he went on to find his true love after she was murdered. There were some really good twists in the story too which made it even more exciting to read and I liked that I didn’t see them coming! Ashara was a good character too and I did feel for her a little. I enjoyed reading about the journey that Casstiel and Ashara went on together.
I thought this story really was a great read; the author descriptive language almost brought the story to life! I absolutely recommend this story – it was a brilliant 5 star read!

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind~52 Realms)
By Sheri-Lynn Marean

This is the second book in a series and I could see how there could be many more. I have not read the first book in the series. At times i did feel a little lost but once the story got going i was fine. This book is full of tons of characters. I enjoyed meeting them all. While this story is of Cass there are other mini stories going on within. They all meet at the end as the storylines get sewed up. This is great for a series because it keeps the reader wanting to learn about some of the other characters stories.

I enjoyed the camaraderie and love between Cass and his two best friends. I have to say I am a bit jealous that these guys can jump off a cliff and shift to dragon mid jump. I just wish...well...because that would be awesome! Cass’ two kids were great as they raised questions and found answers throughout the story.

This is a first time author for me. The story was engaging and kept me interested. This author knows how to put images in my mind with her writing. I could easily imagine places and things that happened. Hopefully there will be more in the series. I mean who doesn’t love a good dragon shifter?

Wow Casstiel: Born of Lighting is awesome. This is the second book in the series and hopefully be many more to come. Sheri-Lynn Marean has developed well developed characters and worlds. This story is told from many points of views and flows very well. This also gave me more insight to what is happening in the story. Sheri-Lynn Marean wants to be crystal clear about her characters that she made a glossary to make sure that her readers are aware from the beginning. This is the story of Casstiel and his life. He lost the love of his life and should have been reunited in the afterlife. He doesn’t understand what is happening and more importantly why it is happening. He has gone into a deep depression which has everyone worried. Then we met Ashara has had a hard life. She was taken into slavery and then became a “breeder” for those who enslaved her. She is half-breed dragon and has never shifted into a dragon. What will happen when Ashara and Casstiel meet? That is one of many questions that should be answered.

This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. It took me on an emotional journey that just kept giving not to say the twists and turns that left me on the edge of my seat. Her characters are relateable and lovable. They made me feel as if I was right there with them. Their story is full of action and romance with a paranormal twist. Find out what happens to Cass as he tries to find his way. I highly recommend this book.

This is a paranormal story that is book 2 in the Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms series. In the beginning of the story it was hard for me to read, as I had to learn the characters and their situations, but I guess that’s what happens when you start a series with book 2. I did end up loving this story because, well…dragon shifters are amazing! Marean makes me want to read book 1 and any other books she writes in this series!

Ashara and Casstiel are two characters who have a connection with each other but don’t understand it. Casstiel was supposed to be mated with Maya but after her death he was stuck and couldn’t follow her to the afterlife. Thanks to the connection with Ashara. Casstiel planned to severe that connection but again fate had other plans. The pain and suffering that these main two characters go through is heartbreaking and sad. This story wasn’t all sadness. Casstiel’s daughter Skye is the perfect teenager. Not quite an adult but not quite a kid anymore. Her attitude, loneliness and confusion was spot on!

There are many other characters in this book which leads me to thinking and hoping that there will be many Dragon shifters in my future! I enjoyed learning about this world and their powers. Marean made it easy for me to become a dragon shifter fan!

“Without a mate, all dragonkind males started to lose their souls. Then their humanity went, leaving them angry, fire-breathing, killing machines.
Cass’s heart squeezed in his chest. Maya had hurt him more than he could have ever imagined when she severed their bond so that he wouldn’t follow her. Even worse was the feeling that he hadn’t been enough for her. That no matter his love, she obviously hadn’t felt the same.”

Casstiel is a dragon shifter romance by Sheri-Lynn Marean. This paranormal/fantasy took me on a journey full of love, loss, heartache, emotion, magic, revenge, pain, grief, redemption, action, adventure, and drama. The story is told from several perspectives, which gave an in-depth ‘look’ at what had/was happening. I like that the author provides a glossary at the beginning of the book, to help with all the names- it was handy and informative. There were a lot of characters and realms to get my head around, so the glossary really helped.
Casstiel lost his beloved mate 10 years earlier and he’s been wracked by grief and anger ever since. When she died, killed by their enemy, she severed their bond, so Casstiel couldn’t follow her. He was SUPPOSED to be with her now and he can’t understand why she did what she did. It torments him every day! He isn’t truly living, stuck in the past and unable to move forward. His anger and hatred consume him and his family and friends worry about his state of mind. Something or someone is tether him to the world, and he wants to find them so he can sever the connection. When he finally finds the one responsible for tethering him, she is definitely not what he was expecting. He feels drawn to her and incredibly protective. Now the story gets really interesting!

“I’m so bloody tired of all this. For so long, he’d dreamed of finding the one holding him to life. He’d plotted his revenge, imagining what he was going to do once he finally found her. He would make her pay, make her hurt, just like he hurt. Then he’d break their connection and send her to hell.
It had been all that kept him alive for the last ten years.
But now that he’d met her, he couldn’t do it. No matter what he wanted to believe, she wasn’t some evil sorceress and she looked like she could be blown over by a stiff breeze.”

Ashara Hasn’t had an easy life. She’d been taken from her parents as a small child and forced into slavery. Then when she grew up she was forced to become a ‘breeder’ for the Illium (the enemy). She is a half-breed fire born dragon, but has never known what it’s like to shift into her dragon. She too feels tethered to someone, and the connection has brought her comfort. When she discovers the source of her connection, she’s a little shocked and frightened. Ashara and Cass have endured great loss and carry a lot of pain. These two embark on journey of discovery, filled with passion and pain- and we get to follow along as everything unfolds!
The story is descriptive and detailed, bringing the whole story to ‘life’. Ms. Marean has wonderful world building skills, making her story quite ‘real’ and believable. I really enjoyed exploring her world and look forward to more adventures in the future.

Thank you, Ms. Marean!

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms) by Sheri-Lynn Marean is a paranormal fantasy romance story that you will find yourself getting lost in. Page after page will keep turning until you know what is going on and before you know it you are at the end of the story because you were so immersed in it. There are a lot of conflicting emotions for our hero in this story, loss and fear, sorrow and desire, conflict and hope, passion and guilt just to name a few. Sheri-Lynn describes the characters and the world in vivid telling which makes you see all that she describes. The story is well written and engaging and one that I recommend reading. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I am volunteering to leave a review of this ARC book. I am absolutely enthralled by the original series, and now this follow on. Cass's story comes back to us from the very early books of the first series. I feel so sorry for Cass having lost his soul-mate, and so, himself. He has not been there for his children, and if he was not tethered, he would have joined Maya long ago. he fells guilt for his children not knowing, or having him in their young lives. Can he win them back? Will Ashara play a big role in his acceptance? I can almost guarantee you will love this book. Really have to have read the series to get the most out of it!
