This is a typical Jason book. Weird animals, minimalistic plots, shorter stories. Again, in typical style is affecting and wonderful. Jason is not for everyone. Most of his stories have an edge to them of some sort. Something that will reach in and knick your heart a little bit. But, they are good and worth the reading.

Jason has such a distinctive, blank style... yes they are cats who are people, but really, they are usually inscrutable more than cartoon cats have to be. I think it really pays off here more than in his book about the Camino de Santiago, which I think was autobiographical.... you have to guess when things are about to be a bit wistful, when someone is going to betray their partner, or whether on the next page the story will take a giant leap forward without any foreshadowing from characters... it's kind of awesome how the tone can shift without words or even expressions. "So Long Mary Anne" and "Athos in America" were my favorites.

This series of shorts was alot darker than any of his previous works I've read. Not bad, but... a tad discomfiting...

This book was not for me. It's 5 stories that discuss domestic violence, greed, psychopathy, desolation, and desperation.

A couple of the characters look like racist characiturea :/ and the title story mentions running off and living with Indians.  I didn't like it at all.
