I love seeing this series continue through the secondary characters while still involving the main ones and how life has continued after the war. This love story was just as beautiful as the rest and I got to say if you can make me care about Arla even when I hated her throughout the rest of the series you did dang good. Best quote "Failure isn't something to be afraid of. People who are will never grow, never experience, and never discover because their courage is confined to guaranteed success and how they appear."

*sigh*

SPOILERS
The author did such a good job making me hate Arla in the original series, and I really couldn't get past it. I feel like there needed to be at least twice as much character development if St. Clare really wanted us to feel a different way about her.

Thoughts on the novellas as a whole: each book was progressively shorter, and I can't help but wonder if that's because St. Clare was burnt out with the series. It was like watching the 16th season of a TV show that really should have been put out of its misery three seasons ago. Don't get me wrong, the writing was good. But you can just tell that she wasn't feeling inspired. All for novellas had the same basic storyline: complicated male finds the love of his life and immediately marries her. There wasn't any real depth to them. The only one that I really got anything out of was Rhone - it at least broke the mold a little bit and gave some much desired insight into the character.

I greatly dislike Arla, and I don't think she deserved faithful Shard for her HEA. Her crappy attitude and decisions due to consistently trying to please her father was not a good excuse at all.

It was still a good read in the sense that I'm glad we finally know who everyone ends up with, but argh, Arla sucks. *mutters*

Arla? Really? I mean, idk. It wasn't bad, I just didn't like the choice of love interests, and Shard's whole "she's been told what to do her whole life by her dad, now _I_ know what she really needs!" Still liked him/this book better than Sin's though.

Arla! Ugh! Can't say I like her. Shard has been one of my favourite characters from the start and I felt like he deserved better than someone who constantly put others down because she couldn't handle her own problems.
I have loved the whole series and novella and given each one 5 stars except this one. Even though it was well written, I can't agree with Shard's love interest.
That being said, I'm going to really miss this world and all its characters. One of my favourite series.

I still don't like Arla ... but I'm happy that Shard got what he wanted. I loved being able to see where everyone in the series ended up–and meeting Jovan and Lina's baby girl!

I think Shard's story would've benefited from a dual narrative ... because neither I or Shard really understood Arla (she lead Shard on for freaking 18 months!).

Can we please have another

I will never not love these characters. Another great novella and as always I'm left wanting more from this world. Loved everything about it.
