A wonderful read. Unpredictable, dark, twisted. Not a horror book, but a mild thriller, I'd say. Wonderful world-building.

I really like this guy's books and this one stands apart. Not predictable or formulaic and the writing is quite good. A couple paragraphs were so rich, I had to reread them a few times for the pleasure of it. Strongly recommended.

I was not a fan of city of stairs? But was pleasantly surprised by this book! I really liked the concept of pink and how the ones in it went out and how strange the town was. The writing was really good and for how long the book was it didn’t feel very long.

I haven't read anything like it.

I held the main character in too-high-regard to believe she would truly say "ain't you" or leave off the "what" in "w. T. F.", but since the author is somehow able to make so many fantastical things seem real, full of life, and even sometimes logical, I'll forgive him the dialogue.

I began recommending this book half way in, and I wouldn't withdraw those urgings. If you can do a 620 page book, you should definitely give this one a shot.

I quite enjoyed this one (4.5 out of 5) While I see that this book might not be everyone's cup of tea, I found it to be a book that kept me captivated through all 600+ pages. My book club selected this book from a list of books for "If you liked Stranger Things, you will like these books". At the beginning, The book reminded me of the TV show "Wayward Pines". Though there was suspension of disbelief involved in the story, I didn't find the book trying to be something that it wasn't.

I listened to this via Audible. Didn't read the PB.

I found it to be derivative. Clearly channeling Lovecraft's Great Old Ones. Also, some Dexter. Mona's "fuck" in every sentence was as tedious as Deb's.

The story was good. The narrator was good. I didn't love the way Bennett told the story. It was inconsistent.

I DID listen all the way through because I wanted to see where it was going, in spite of wishing he'd had a better editor.
