Honestly, one of my top 5 books I have read. As a nurse myself, it felt good reading some of these stories and knowing that I wasn't alone with some of the thoughts and feelings that nurses in these stories had.

I like these true personal essays. They span a wide variety of experiences, and a wide variety of people. I think this would be a great book to have in a nursing curriculum, or for anyone thinking about becoming a nurse, or if you know a nurse and you wonder what their working life is all about. Only 3 stars for uneven writing.

A truly beautiful collection of nurses in all walks of life, as well as a few family members / patients. I’ve laughed and cried while reading this book, and learned so much. Being a new nurse, this book really opens the door to all the great wonders as well as the great tragedies the profession has to offer. I am truly proud to be a nurse. Highly recommend this book to any nurse or anyone who knows and loves a nurse in their life.

Don't think I was in the right mood/mindset when listening. Probably better than I'm giving it credit for.

I started reading this back when I was contemplating nursing, put it down when I decided that was no longer what I wanted. I picked it up, again, recently because I needed something to relate to and I did indeed relate to certain stories.

Wanted to spend more time on actually learning material instead of reading about people in nursing.

As a New Zealander, I struggled to relate with this American-based book. A bit boring.
