Elena Potato has a hard enough time with her last name, but now she is the new kid in town. When she is warned off of meeting the weird kid next door, that's the first thing she does. She meets Zick, who is allergic to everything and sees monsters. Now the pets in town are missing, and the trail seems to lead to a high end restaurant. Can Elena and Zick solve the mystery?
I liked this quirky story with it's odd characters and fun art. The story would have completely appealed to a middle school version of myself.

The art style is cute and endearing. The plot is simple, but engaging. I enjoyed it.

This gave me a good shot of nostalgia. I remember watching the show on Kids WB. In the comics, Zick seems a little rude as opposed to the cartoon.

This was really fun. A new girl moves in next door and wants to be friends with the weird eccentric next door, even though all the other kids think he is a freak. He is a freak. He can see monsters and talk to dead people. That is just part of what makes this such a fun read. I like to see a character that wants to hang with the strange and unusual instead of always trying to be popular. A great and fun read for any age. I can not wait to pick up book 2.
