The Female Lead is stupidly stubborn, largely uncaring towards the Male Leads, and ignores the obvious so she can hole up in her mind and wallow in self-pity.

If you want me to root for a Main Character, you have to try and make them at least a little likable. The Female Lead was not likable at any point in the story, and I hoped the Male Leads would just dump her and find someone better not even half-way through.

Not your average love story. Very good story, good plot, fabulous characters. A few typos, but overall an enjoyable read.

“Sometimes bad things happen to good people, and they still find a way to turn it around."

Such a beautifully told story about Alea and her men Dane, Landon and Cooper. Alea has a horrible backstory but it is told with compassion and in some ways the suspenseful part of this story took a backseat which I didn't mind at all.

It doesn't beat the other books in the series but it's still great. I recommend the whole series

okay first of the book was okay in my opinion. I just found the following problems after reading it
1. its not a fantasy so I at least expected it to be a bit more realistic
Spoilerwho the fuck has three husbands that love her and don't plan on killing themselves in hope of monopolizing her

2.i could predict the ending and that was annoying for me
3.
Spoiler I wanted her to end up with Dane because that's who she really needed

so in all I give 2.5

After her kidnapping and torture, Princess Alea of Bezakistan has withdrawn from the world. Miserable, she's barely able to stand the supportive hugs of her sister-in-law, since most human touch makes her panic with flashbacks. Worse, the person behind the kidnapping is still a mystery and Alea is still in danger. Enter her three, sexy ex-military American bodyguards. They're also her future husbands, since polyandry is a common way of life in Bezakistan. And then her enemy strikes again, leaving Alea and her bodyguards alone on a plane crashing into the ocean.

I wasn't a huge fan of the first Shayla Black novel I read, but I do like this one. Alea has been legitimately traumatized, and while she needs therapy more than sex, the careful way her men approach her is sweet (especially since there are no therapists on their deserted island, and she does eventually talk to a counselor). The love scenes are well written, and the characters are compelling. All in all, it's a very good book.

Okay, so I'm a huge fan of Shayla Black and this series but this one doesn't measure up to the others. This book was highly anticipated, and I expected much more from it. I was extremely excited when I found out this book had been released and I was itching to read it.

So, this one focuses on Alea's story and the aftermath of her abduction. I found it extremely unrealistic that she would be taken by human traffickers and only forced to watch other girls get violated in the worst way possible. That's enough to traumatize someone, sure. I'd imagine that real-life human traffickers would be itching to sell the princess to their highest bidder. These people have a princess with very rich relatives and they wouldn't attempt to use her to get a larger ransom. I know they were being paid not to hurt her; but if the person that paid these people was only going to end up killing her anyway, what was the point in going through all of that trouble in the first place? There were a lot of blank stares at some of the passages in this book, at least for me there was.

As paranoid as Alea seemed in the previous book, she lacked that same paranoia in this book. Actually, if I'm honest, Alea only seemed slightly subdued in the previous book. She didn't seem as if she was affected by what happened to her. Even though nothing happened to her, you would think she would be wary about leaving the country on her own. Since they're certain it was their cousin that set them up, you would think she wouldn't trust anyone at this point. That wasn't the case in this book. Like someone else stated, I didn't feel the connection between Alea and the guys. I didn't believe there was a solid interest and attraction there. Alea got over her hang-ups so quickly that it was almost as if nothing ever happened. I would have accepted a more gradual approach, but this issue was solved way too quickly to be accepted as real.

The plot was unrealistic and it felt rushed, it's almost as if the author rushed through the story writing process to put a book out. Don't get me wrong, her writing was good but that's all I can say about that. I would rather wait a whole year if it means I would get a good quality book where the plot flows and develops organically. I didn't get that vibe from this one; I was disappointed, because I know Shayla could have done so much better.
