I first tried reading this little blue book back in August of 2021, but every time I picked it back up I would start it over, hoping I'd be able to glean all its wisdom in one afternoon. That being said, I've probably read the first fifty pages ten times over at this point, and finally told myself that I needed to finish it over the course of 24 hours maximum. I'm so glad I did as the last few pages severed something in me that needed severing. It's been a few weeks now since I finished Bluets, and Maggie Nelson's masterful stanzas are still living rent-free in my brain as I'm sure they will be for a long long time. My favorite of them being <"I admit that I may have been lonely. I know that loneliness can produce bolts of hot pain, a pain which, if it stays hot enough for long enough, can begin to simulate or to provoke---take your pick---an apprehension of the divine. (This ought to arouse our suspicions.)">
