This book disappointed me because I've heard so many great things about it. The writer just keeps complaining about how heartbroken she is and the aspects of how depression feels and it's so dragged out. Sometimes I feel like the writing is unnecessarily edgy as well.  There are some good bits but even with 99 pages the book felt too long.

I didn't find it interesting. Also, why is every paragraph numbered?

It's ironic that Nelson spends so much of this book debating whether putting something in writing robs it of its essence, since I thought I'd love reading about blue but I actually really disliked this book. Maybe it was her frequent insistence on referring to sex as "fucking". Idk maybe this is just my asexuality showing but I find it so annoying when writers talk about their "lovers" *gag*. There were some lines that I did like but overall it just wasn't what I thought this book would be, I guess.

I have heard rave, rave reviews for this one but something about the format didn’t sit right with me. All of the poems are in a long numbered list and the constant citations, while interesting, sometimes distracted from the poet’s own words. I wouldn’t have minded if the format switched up a bit. As for the content, some standout passages but most didn’t hit connect for me.

Essay entries describe the indescribable feeling of obsession and how it bleeds into other challenging emotions. If I read & digested this again, I'd surely bump it to a 5/5 despite actually hating the color blue.

I find that I did not enjoy this book, though I can imagine that someone else may. It isn't very accessible, though there are some beautiful moments of reflection. The author is a very skilled writer.
