I laughed out loud so many times reading this book. It’s hilarious and heartfelt and I loved the characters so much. HOT too, so hot. A bit of a slow burn but seeexy. Mutual masturbation. Lots of face-saving. Writing.

Alcoholism and low self-esteem, sport abuse, thinking you have to be a certain way to be okay.

It was the milk in a peppa pig mug that did it for me.

The syntax was strange, writing style odd, hadn’t got a clue if this was meant to be in England or not despite multiple mentions of Emmerdale, Gary Lineker and Man United in the first chapter alone - it was all over the place, no firm footing on the ground. The FMC was so NLOG; her inner monologue was just bizarre, and it was insta-love for the MMC who, by the cover looks like in his early 30s but sounded like an OAP?? Sorry he has a flip phone and uses windows 95 but not in a ‘ha ha I hate technology’ way, in a ‘I’m old and can’t work it’ way. The reviews keep mentioning banter but there literally isn’t any. The writing style is so confusing, weird sentence structure, extremely repetitive, there are so many gaps of info it feels like not even a first draft? I have so many negative emotions and I only got like 30 pages in.

it bothered me that the author didn't use the names of the main character for more than two chapters. kept referring to her as "she" over and over again and idk I forgot what her name was!
