Read this as a BR so putting my thoughts from there as my review.

Up to chapter 5

What is it with teenagers especialy girls going to the bad boys.
Wonder who the woman is? That Brianne mentioned in another chapter?

Up to chapter 10

Oooh David's dead...

Up to chapter 15

This had me wondering if you can figure out where a recording was made with a birthday card recording lol. I focused way too long on that

Ending

Evie and Matt work well as characters.
I'm not mad I read this but it's not a book that will stick with me

This wasn't a bad read I think it just falls into the okay category for myself. Suspense romance is always a bit hit and miss for me.

The biggest drawback to reading this book was Evie. There was nothing about her that I liked. She had a seasoned military professional assisting her and she would not follow simple instructions, like she knew better than Matt did.

I didn't feel any connection between Matt and Evie. It felt more to me like they had an unfinished past and they were used to each other since they were childhood friends. Evie was so unpleasant, I thought Matt should have moved on. No chemistry at all.

Also, how did what happened to Bree happen? I could make assumptions, but it was never clearly stated.

I would have like more detail about what happened on Matt's last op. Or if Matt had reconciled on some level with this father. Even more interaction between Matt and his father. Or, what were the repercussions from what happened with David, Bree, and Rivera. But then, I also would have left Evie cooking for Charlie, lol.

There were so many more interesting things going on than Matt's relationship with Evie.

I could have rated this book much higher had she not been so obnoxious. I kept listening because I did enjoy Aiden Snow's narration. Luckily, for me, this was not my first book by this author. I have read others that I enjoyed much more.

Action packed and definitely full of twists and turns, Hot Pursuit was a story that you could lose yourself in. Matt and Evie move through the dangers around them with passion, spirit and conviction of right and wrong. Their love rekindles as they are repeatedly thrown into dangerous situations that allow them find not only each other again, but the missing pieces of themselves. The love between Matt and Evie is a powerful undercurrent throughout the entire story and when their path is set and their HEA has arrived you feel blessed to have traveled the long road back with them. As a begging to the series, it was a well-written introduction to the HOT program as well as a few of the other men we will meet down the road. Though this was a first Harris read for me it will not be the last and I’m looking forward to wherever she takes us in the future.

Hot Pursuit was a good thriller-romance. This was the first book I have read from Lynn Raye Harris and I was pleasantly surprised by what she brought to the table. Normally, I feel with books like these, you have the hero take off and leave the girl and then comes back to save the day but Harris put a little spin on it. Before Matt took off, he humiliated Evie after their night together and broke her heart when she was only 16 years old. She grew up and because of her ex-partner in her business, she finds herself back in her hometown, along with Matt who is there for his sister’s wedding.

However, Evie’s ex-partner comes into town and brings some trouble with him and includes her into the mix. Matt won’t let her out of his sight until he solves what is going on and how to make sure that Evie stays safe.

The only thing that I will say is that Evie states that she was heart broken after Matt left her (and she should be) however, she let him back into her heart extremely quick. I would have at least made him beg for a few months. *smiles*

I do hope that there are more books in these series. Perhaps Matt’s wonderful military buddies.

This one was good but the plot did get a bit needlessly convoluted.

Hot Pursuit is a tale of second chance love, when Evie who has been in love with Matt since she was about 6 has to return to her small Louisiana hometown after being the target of a con artist the last person she wants to see is Matt who broke her heart about 10 years ago.

Matt, now an operative with the armies HOT team, has to take a break to see if his bad decisions lead to the deaths of two of his team mates during the last op they went on. Matt returns home to attend his sister's wedding never knowing that he would see Evie a girl he has had a special place in his heart for all these years.

Hot Pursuit is a suspenseful and exciting tale of lost love, cruel lovers and mob hit men. I did find I had a hard time getting into the story but once it got going it was face paced and suspenseful. As much a action adventure story as a romance we have a good blending of the two.

Evie did seem to have some mood swings fairly quickly and her reasoning at times is whiney and more apt for a tween than an adult woman. The chemistry between Matt and Evie leads to some pretty hot scenes and sexual tension permeates the entire story.

First book I've read from this author, and definitely won't be the last. I was looking for a bit of romantic suspense, as I alternate with my reading genres. I noticed this first book was free so I thought "Why not?"

So glad I picked it up! It certainly has romance, and suspense. Best kind really when the hero & heroine were childhood friends, and from the complete opposite sides of town.

Couldn't put this one down. Absolutely loved it, and heading out to amazon to buy the other's in the series.

Action, adventure and love. This book will take you on a ride through the bayou. I liked Evie even if she does give in too easy and while I wanted to smack Matt he does have his uses. This story will have you turning page after page till it is over. Set aside some quiet time because you aren’t going to want to put it down.

It took me a while to get into this novel but once I did I found it enjoyable and engaging.
