Learned a couple things: Shel Silverstein wrote 'A Boy Named Sue' and Cash doesn't really know Willie Nelson all that well.

I'm most likely Johnny Cash's biggest fan who never got to meet the Man in Black personally. I found Cash incredibly interesting, learning about his life from his point of view, a lot of stories came across a little different that in other books I've read about him by other authors. If you are not interested in his life/love/career history all that much, you may find the story a little slow but as a huge fan, I was captivated.

Really I was very disappointed. The book was mainly about other people he knew (like Roy Orbison). It hardly told his own story. At the same time he would share history and stories of each house he owned and little stories that you'd hear a grandfather talk about on holidays of sorts, so that was kinda nice. I learned much more about him from reading all his old letters and such in "I Walked The Line" by Vivian Cash (his first wife).

Somewhat entertaining, but mostly it felt like stuck listening to your grandfather ramble on at you about uninteresting reminiscence. If you're interested in who among the country greats was a good fisher, what it's like to live (occasionally) in privilege in Jamaica, or Cash's book collecting, this is the book for you.

If you are even considering reading this book, you do not need to be reading reviews. You need to be reading this book.

Absolutely amazing. This autobiographical account of the Man In Black's life is a must-read for anyone, fan or not.

I have to be honest. The reason I read this book is because in the movie High Fidelity John Cusack's character says, "I have to say my all time favorite book is Johnny Cash's autobiography, Cash, by Johnny Cash." I have repeated that sentence anytime asks me what my favorite book is, but it's not really true. While Johnny Cash's autobiography, Cash, by Johnny Cash is not my favorite book, it is still an enjoyable read. It gets really churchy towards the end, though, so fair warning.
