While fans of ‘Anne of Green Gables’ might be shocked by the darkness that lurks on the edges of these pages, those who know L. M. Montgomery’s story might feel the author reaching her hand out and pleading for help in these pages. Heart-breaking, self-aware, and more mature than I expected. But, similar to the author who created Green Gables, still full of imagination, beauty, and the possibility of a happily ever after. Here’s to finding your blue castle, holding tight to your dust piles, and capturing the freedom of not giving a ‘darn.’

As sweet and magical as ever upon rereading

One of my favorites Montgomery books. Filled with adventure and romance and magic, I love seeing Valancy make a new life for herself.

such a wholesome read. I love that valancy is just a normal girl. she's plain and simple, nothing special about her. this makes her relatable. all she wants to do is make a life for herself, and that's the story. it's just a story of her self improvement and journey to be brave and say what she wants and doesn't want. and her bravery leads her to be bolder than she thought she would be and it leads her to find love in the unexpected.

oh and barney. I love how he calls her moonlight and how he just falls in love with her. the best thing he's says is,
" “Love you! Girl, you’re in the very core of my heart. I hold you there like a jewel. Didn’t I promise you I’d never tell you a lie? Love you! I love you with all there is of me to love. Heart, soul, brain. Every fibre of body and spirit thrilling to the sweetness of you. There’s nobody in the world for me but you, Valancy.” "
