Shorter, less compelling version of "House of the Spirits". Great for a plane ride, and I do want to try some of the recipes, but not my favorite experience with magical realism (especially compared to my current love, "One Hundred Years of Solitude").

I love the simplicity of the magical realism in this novel. I also love the monthly recipe setup. When I read this novel in college, two people in my class followed one of the recipes and created matches, which was pretty cool.

Me gustó mucho.

I've been meaning to read this book for the longest time and I am glad that I finally did. I love food-related books and this one delivered. I definitely plan on googling and trying out some of the recipes from the novel.

It's unique and different. In every chapter or month, Laura Esquivel describes a unique dish and through making the dish we get to know a little more about the love story between Tita and Pedro.
