This book had an interesting premise and kept me turning the pages...however, there were some content concerns.

Language: One of the characters used several curse words, including the f-word.

Sexual content: A couple sexual encounters between teenagers. Not explicitly described, but disturbing to me since this is a YA novel. I wouldn't necessarily let young teenager read it.

My thoughts: I felt like the author got so close to presenting some meaningful ideas about beauty, but didn't quite get there. In the end, I'm not sure any of the characters learned anything about what it really means to be "beautiful" or "ugly". The ending was also a little abrupt to me, and I felt like some of the characters' stories weren't really wrapped up well enough for this book to be satisfying.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I didn't know what to expect when I first started reading it, but I am happy to say that it is better than I thought. The only reason i didn't give this book 5 stars is because of some of the characters, and I don't just mean the girls on the list. Some parents annoyed me. Some siblings annoyed. To be honest a lot of characters annoyed me. i still think it was a good read, but the characters need some work.

I do think it might be an important read for some teenage girls (I’m one of them myself) but for me it wasn’t. However I think it might help the one or the other

I don't really give up on a book. I always try my damnedest to finish books no matter how utterly horrible they are. But this book just outdid those other books in being awful.

Ugly plot and dreadful writing style = dnf

Sorry not sorry.

I really wanted to like this book. It has a great premise and lots of potential, but for me it just fell flat. The focus of this book is a list of the prettiest and ugliest girls from all 4 years. That's 8 people. And apparently they are all main characters of their own mini stories in the one big story. For 3/4 of the book I had to keep skipping back to the printed list in the front to see who was being talked about. Only 2 characters stood out. And they weren't actually likable or particularly nice characters. There was bit of plot but most of the book was building up all 8 characters followed by a short albeit unexpected climax. This would have been much better if it focused on only 2 or 3 people instead.
