Good overview of some key women writers, particularly focusing on the United States. The artwork is great.

This was on my wish list for quite a bit - I finally purchased it, I read it in one day and IMMEDIATELY had to put it on my "All-Time Favorites" shelf.

If you love the quirky, creepy, odd and unusual - and If you are NERDY for female writers - this is a MUST HAVE. It's a small book with brief, fantastical explanations of the authoress at hand, and GORGEOUS illustrations. The imaginary explanations of the writer's "witchiness" are followed by a brief blurb that is the writer's literal bio. I am especially grateful that suggested reading is given for each author. I've always wanted to read Anais Nin and Virginia Woolf, for example, but didn't know what to start with. My only (neutral) commentary is - how is the Bell Jar not mentioned for Sylvia Plath?!

Literary Witches is a great addition to a feminist book lovers collection and makes a great gift for the witchy women word welders in your life. I personally know I will be buying the corresponding oracle deck AND giving this out as Yuletide gifts to all my writer friends!

This is truly a magical book!

I really enjoyed getting to know all these artists and female writers. It really inspired me to read even more and also to explore something new.

Taisia Kitaiskaia is a true talent when it comes to detailled and imaginative descriptions and the artwork by Katy Horan just put the whole book together.

Everything about this book is amazing and I basically ran through it in two days. I do really recomment it to explore new authors and get to know the ones you already know in even more detail!

This was a good in-between book for me (books to read when I'm in between books and am not sure what to read next). I got to be introduced into more authors to check out; I liked that recommended reading for each author is included in their page. The art style isn't what I'm typically drawn to, but it suit the tone of the book. The summaries of the authors were for the most part good, though there were a few that I wish went into more detail. The three vignettes per author were sometimes enjoyable, sometimes not; I look forward to actually reading their material and going back to read these vignettes in order to actually understand the references (which I think will enhance the reading experience of them).

I loved this selection of women writers - loved the artwork and the writing about them. Some of my favourites and several books added to my to read list.
