A really lovely collection of stories about several Lebanese American families living in Dearborn. While each story stood on its own, small references to people in other stories served to reinforce the tight-knit nature of the Arab community in this area. I enjoyed learning about these characters as well as bits of history that brought this community from Lebanon to Michigan.

Dearborn, MI is the birthplace of Henry Ford, and has the largest Muslim population in the US per capita. I was fortunate enough to spend some time there back in 2019, and this felt like a timely read.

This collection of short stories features several Muslim families, primarily Lebanese. While each character is an individual, most of the stories are shadowed by Israeli violence in their native country and persecution in their home country after 9/11.

There is a touch of crossover between the characters' stories, which I always enjoy.
