The kid and I both liked this book. It's a perfectly spooky romp through a mystery with best friends, malicious spirits, and a kick ass granny.
Lucily's family is unique. She and her dad live in her house with the ghosts of her dead relatives. When the ghosts are corporeal people, they are fireflies lighting up a tree in Lucily's back yard. The fire flies start getting sick, and in attempt to make them better, Lucily and her best friend accidently raise malicious spirits all OVER TOWN.
This book handles hard themes like housing insecurity, death and grief of a parent, and freindship in accessible ways. 10/10 would recommend for a middle grader who loves adventures and is a fan of magic, ghosts, and cats.
