Guess what we're having for dinner....?

Pizza... Just kidding. We are having Bee Bim Bop.

There is a recipe in the back of the sing song book for Bee Bim Bop and we are going to fix it. I love the dish and have never made it before, so here goes. It looks like a good recipe.

The nephew listened to the good. I think it was ok for him. Still, we are all excited about the food from the book. The art didn't do anything for me and it served the story. It's about the joys of Bee Bim Bop which is a mix-up rice dish.

Notes: Korean, cooking with mom, culture,

Maybe for some reason feels a little for the younger side like kindergarten and first. the text has a rhythm to it so would be easy to read out loud. it is Rhyming stanzas is on most pages.

Nice rhythmic poetry tells the story of a family preparing a young girls favourite meal, Bee-bim Bop. Ho Baek Lee’s illustrations capture her excitement delightfully.

My favorite topic...FOOD!
Fun rhythm and rhyme. A good spring board to get young students thinking and talking about their favorite foods. There are a lot of great cooking related verbs.

Possible teaching points-
"op" family
sequence on how to make a favorite dish
puncuation-multiple uses for a dash

This is such a cute introduction to a delicious traditional Korean dish!! I love the rhymes and the way everything about this book seemed so happy. And of course Linda Sue Park is a great author and reading this reminded me that I've wanted to read all her works for a while, so maybe I'll get around to doing that sometime soon??
