The beginning of the book grabbed me and it didn't let me go until the last word of the book. I loved all the characters, each and every one of them added something to the book and I couldn't imagine one of them not being in it. Falon and Rafael were drawn together and looked like they should be together from the first time they were introduced even though they fought their attraction. The emotions in Karin Tabke's writing made everything that much better. The sex scenes were super hot, the fights were dirty, and the world was brilliantly developed. The cliffhanger at the end is really making me angry and I already know book two BLOOD RIGHT is going to be more emotional then the first. If you are a paranormal romance fan this is a must read.

The story is written fine but I really didn’t care for the plot of the story or the characters. Not my thing.

My thoughts on Rafael in this book is this guy has had it hard too. Not only is he trying to save his pack, but he's also having to deal with his twin brother who has it out for him for killing his mate. Whoever Rafael decides to mate; his twin brother has a right to kill as per the Blood Law. Poor Rafael, if he meets his soulmate, he will be forced to turn her over to be killed by his brother. Who would want that? I almost want to hug him. He'll only know love for a while...but what if he's willing to fight the Blood Law? Now that is when it gets exciting.
You will have to read this book to find out what the brothers are fighting about in it. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it. I do want to read more about the twin brother though in the next book, which I know will happen. =) You'll also need to read the book to find out what Falon finds out about herself. Karin Tabke knows how to make you sit on the edge of your seat.
I look forward to reading the next book in the series and getting to know more about the characters and what happens next.

**2.5 Stars**

I'm torn with this book. There was so much about this book that I did not like at all.

Pros:
1. The sex in this book was good but not great. But heck, any sex at all is a pro in my book.
2. The action sequences in this book were great. Especially Falon's little part.
3. Lucian's penchant for being where he's not allowed. It's great.

Cons:
1. Character names. Ugh. Falon and Rafael??? Not a fan off the bat. Then there was Anton and Argon. Major confusion there. Didn't seem real to me. And in the beginning of the novel, it seemed like there were three names for one person and I was just lost!!
2. Plot. Lacking in such a big way. I just felt like the author was just trying to put a book together instead of really making it great. The back story of the Slayers and the Lycans was mehh at best. I couldn't really get into the entire thing.
3. Insta-love. At least, it felt like insta-love. I felt like the characters fell in it too quickly and you couldn't really feel the struggle of fighting it. The ending was inevitable but I felt like their relationship should have evolved in a different way.

Overall, I liked it but I didn't like it. The ending was intense and almost made me want to continue the series but it didn't really hook me, so I think I'll wait and see if my interests change.

This book is probably great for people who love werewolves and good action scenes. It just wasn't for me.

Falon knows little about her past, but what she does know she is is unusual and has the ability to do things other humans are not able to do. Rafael is estranged from his twin Lucien, after killing his brothers mate who he knew had used black magic covering that she was a slayer. Slayer's are the Lycan's number one enemy, and even though they used to protect their pack as co-alpha's Rafael knows the only way to mend the fence with his brother is to mate and sacrifice his mate by letting Lucien kill her.

Rafael rescues Falon not realizing the important role she will play in his future, as mate. Torn between completing the mating process and giving up Falon, he doesn't want his heart involved but Falon is an extraordinary alpha mate who compliments him in every way, if he can find another solution he may just be able to keep the women who is quickly becoming his soul.

3.75

I was torn with this rating wavering between 3 and stars. What I liked was Falon, I thought she was badass down on her luck young woman who just couldn't get a break. What I struggled with was Rafael's harsh treatment in the beginning of the book and he was so unsympathetic to her plight that I wanted to smack him. Lucien I was intrigued by but he was also callous and harsh. There were a couple of really rough areas but overall, they moved past and it was addressed. I had not realized this was a serial, so need to get the next one soon.

Starts off really slow in the begin but it is telling the background so you can understand the story. Ending completely not what I expected.
