Overall I really liked this book. I didn't realize it was a zombie apocalypse book when I started it. The only real complaint I had with the book was that it takes place in the United States, with mainly an American cast except for one Welshman, however every now and then the Americans would use language that is very British and I found it very distracting at certain parts. One part in particular where the leader of an American biker gang promises a group of children "ice cream and candy for tea" just really kinda ruined the mood of the scene for me. I'm not saying don't read this book because of this or anything, but parts like that did bother me and I just wanted to give my personal experience and opinion. And the characters constantly calling flashlights torches also always kinda threw me off of my reading. I was fine with it when the Welshman did it but when every person from the states did it that kinda distracted me from what I was reading.

Other than that I really enjoyed the book. Most of the characters I found myself rooting for and there were many aspects about the different places the characters go that even after finishing the book I would like to know more about. I'm definitely going to be reading more books by Tim Lebbon.

I am 65 percent of the way through this book and I am struggling to finish it.
The writing is not keeping me interested because the characters inner monologuing can be overly tedious at times. Weird things like one of the main characters wakes up to an alarm in a highly secure lab and they look at their cot and immediately reminisce about the time they had sex with one of the other characters.....
Right before the halfway point of the book I've become determined to finish it though just to see where this whole story goes.

Part of the premise (zombie outbreak via a breach leading to another Earth) was intriguing, but the other part (the wandering Inquisitor) was just tedious.

3.5 stars. Too many plot holes to ignore, but a unique concept. Not your typical zombie story.
