Right. This book started out interesting, and entertaining, and I was legitimately intrigued as to the portrayal of being a gay man in India - it's obviously something I know nothing about, so I relished the idea of reading something very different. I was taken aback by the forwardness of Siddharth (who, was the book continued, I started to intensely dislike) but just accepted that as the novel. However, it went from being funny to suddenly being downright bizarre, and I still don't really understand why the whole situation ended in Sudhir getting a sex change to become a woman. I get that two men together was abominable to many, but I don't know. It sort of feels disrespectful to the Trans community, as Sudhir is a man. He identifies as male. And then suddenly he becomes a woman at the end. Like, what? I don't know. I feel quite disappointed, because this legitimately had the potential to be good, but I really REALLY struggled to push myself through to the end of it.
