I don't have words to describe how much I loved this book. There were parts that I identified a lot with Tori. In the way that she watches films because she knows that is not real, not like with books. I feel that but the other way around. Due to my aphantasia, I just cant picture the things I read, so that's why I've joy reading, because I know it's not real and I can't see it. But with movies, it becomes real, those things happen and I don't want to watch it happen. I love Michael and his flaws and perfections in Tori's eyes. I loved this book!

I'm pretty conflicted about this book honestly, but I've sat with it long enough to feel comfortable writing a fair review.

Initial thoughts upon finishing it: I wish it was a little more fleshed out and grounded. Timelines were very confusing, and A LOT happened in this book that should have been referenced in Heartstopper Vol 5 considering the gravity of the plot. Very okay book.

Reflection: While I love Tori and Heartstopper, I like her less after reading this book and I can't help but wish it was not set in that universe. I fell in love with all of the characters reading the graphic novels and honestly this book tainted the whole universe for me. It was a well written, interesting and emotionally in tuned book and honestly I could see it getting a better rating from me if it was following new characters at a different school.

I understand that this was their first book and written long before Heartstopper and was then edited and that I am not necessarily the intended audience. It's a pretty good book, deals with a lot of emotions that could be relatable to teens but I wouldn't recommend it to Heartstopper fans, ya'll can skip this one its all good <3

"Modern day The Catcher in the Rye" is a perfect way to describe this book. Truly made me feel 16 and depressed and angry at the world again, the way only teenagers can.
