I very much enjoyed this little guide. At first, Tess Whitehurst clears up the common misconception that in order to love someone or to be loved, you have to love yourself first. This isn‘t true. She then clarifies that self love is very positive none the less, so a part of the book is about this topic. There is also a lovely self love attunement exercise which made me cry in a positive way when I tried it.

The author recommends decluttering your life, cleaning your home and then there is a bit about Feng Shui – the "love corner“ in your flat or house. The guide then moves on to the topic of self care and there are ideas of how to create a "love altar“.
I‘d like to mention that the guide is suited for all gender identities and sexual orientations but rather mononormative – there are no suggestions for polyamory (just in case you wondered). However, most of the suggestions can be applied to polyamory as well from my point of view, or you can adapt them to fit this purpose.

Another topic of this book is the love for life, gratitude for the good things in your life and ethics regarding love magic, because, and I quote, "Love magic is not like in the movies. But even in the movies, magicking [a specific person] into loving you is usually ultimately portrayed as what it is in real life: a spectacularly bad idea.“(p. 42) and Tess Whitehurst then elaborates why. There is a list with flowers and crystals and their magical properties which are suitable for love magic (some of the flowers can also be used in the form of flower essences or essential oils).
There are various spells, suitable for beginners as well as advanced practitioners, in the last chapter. The spells are not only for attracting love, but also for the difficult time when a relationship has ended or if you fall into recurring bad relationship patterns (spell "Cleanse Old Relationship Energy“), for beauty and healing one‘s body image, a sort of glamour spell ("Sparkle and Mesmerize“) and also spells for when you are already in a relationship, e.g. for blessing it. I have to admit, my favourite one was the one in which a chocolate cake is required. ;)

The author very much recommends to keep all these spells of love magic a secret – which reminded me of one of the four pillars of magic: "To be silent“. The book closes with a bibliography. It's a short book, but recommendable in my eyes.
