Reading this book now was very timely in the current state of the world. Be kind to everyone and most importantly yourself. Lean on your friends when you forget how to do so.

A boy is taught various philosophical platitudes by his new friends (a mole, a fox, and a horse).
There isn't really a story line; instead it's a collection of one-panel quotes/conversations. I think if I had come across each spread separately, I would have liked it more than reading it all at once. I would have only given it two stars...but the illustrations are stunningly beautiful (reminiscent of Winnie the Pooh).

2 stars for the drawings only. The big landscape ones are very nice and there are a few I would be tempted to frame. As an inspirational book, I think it would be best for the very very young, the toddlers aged 2-5, 6-7 at a push...
I found the quotes insipid, lacking in depth. They were twee and hollow and repetitive. I fully recognise that I am a cynic, but I still find beauty in the small things. I feel like this book is aspiring to be the new Winnie the Pooh, but it falls magnificently short.
I admit this book might just not be for me- I don’t struggle to be in the moment, and honestly I never really have. I have had my struggles with myself, and I’ve always kept that as an internal battle. Homilies about self-care to me lack weight for how often we hear them. Looking after yourself could be a radical act, the act of saying ‘no’ in the interests of looking after yourself can be empowering and lead you closer to understanding of who you are, but this book seems to coast along the surface of things.
