I found this a little confusing at first, like I jumped into the middle of a story but eventually the narrative began to make sense. In a world where constant surveillance is a hot topic of discussion, Blink has managed to twist it from a question of privacy to one of survival. It was interesting to see technology melded with mythology, and to see the fear of surveillance become a corporeal monster. I wouldn't say I loved this, but it was a quick and fun read with an unique plot, that really makes you think about thr effects of technology.

This book tried to do a lot of things without fully sticking the landing on any of them: failed/complex relationships, digital cults, collective vs. individual, etc. It was visually lovely, though.

I randomly picked this up because the visuals look absolutely stunning. So much of the art, colors, composition, etc. are incredible and super compelling. Unfortunately, the story confused me and left me no where.

Also turns out it has horror which I'm not a huge fan of, but that's on me and my personal preference.

To be honest, I wanted to like this a lot more than I did. Despite an interesting premise and some intriguing world elements, this graphic novel just felt way too bloated with overdone ideas while simultaneously not embracing an actual character arc for its protagonist, Wren.
Keeping it simple, I love horror, and like most fans that love spans across mediums—meaning that my love of the ghoulish isn’t only limited to the literary. I also adore horror movies, which is where I think Blink runs into some issues. While the found footage sub-genre isn’t something typically seen in books and graphic novels, it is popular in movies, and unfortunately if you are familiar with movies like The Ring, Choose or Die, The Blair Witch Project, or the V/H/S series then you will probably see everything Blink has to offer coming a mile away.
The only thing that could have saved this narrative from being entirely prosaic is if the characters offered some sort of focal point, but Wren felt stagnant. She was pretty much the same person from beginning to end. Which, while likeable, was far too consistent and lacked that necessary character growth to make the journey of the novel feel worthwhile.
Ultimately I can’t say I am a fan of this or that it has convinced me to look into more of Sebela’s or Sherman’s work.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.

Beautiful art, creative paneling, interesting and gripping story.

This graphic novel felt like it could have been stretched into at least 2 editions to include more details and character development. I would have loved to know more of wrens backstory and would have loved to see her obsession and trauma more fully fledged out before she dove headfirst into the Blink mystery.

Overall, this graphic novel felt about 75% of the way there, I just wanted a deeper look into the characters.

I REALLY loved the art style of this graphic novel. I thought the premise was really fun and cool. I got lost sometimes on what the story was trying to explain unfortunately. I would say that overall it was pretty enjoyable! Definitely worth picking up if only for the art.

This was insufferable honestly. I love me a good graphic novel but this just left me angry. It was confusing as hell and the ending amounted to nothing. Nothing was solved and nothing was gained. The only upside is I quite liked the art style and that is why I would give it a 1.5 stars. However, the story felt SO rushed and the beginning was so confusing and so fast that I wasn’t sure what was going on. I didn’t get to know any characters super well and so I didn’t care about any of them.

I also couldn’t tell where some scenes went. Thought certain scenes were in the past but they were in the present. Maybe it was more difficult reading a comic on my phone that was meant for print.

Beginning of the novel: hate Wren. like she is strung out on on her past and making it everyone else’s problem. Like her friend was literally killed trying to help her. And then after he’s dead, we literally only see him mentioned like twice and never again.

At one point she even says she has nowhere to go but didn’t she have a whole boyfriend whom she bought a house with? what lmao??? Like what do you mean?

The entire concept was literally like a fever dream. It was so confusing and so ridiculous that I absolutely despised reading it. I was SO close to DNF’ing, but I pushed through.

Anyway, I don’t recommend.

As always, thank you Netgalley for the arc!

I really wanted to like this book, the first chapter was so interesting and seemed to have so much mystery! Once I got to the second chapter I couldn't really get involved in the storyline, and by chapter 3 I had to stop. I think maybe if the author was able to cut back on some of the monologue of the protagonist, it would have been a more accessible story.
