holy FRICK this book was nothing like I expected and that made it even better. my GOD. I'm literally so upset I won't get the sequel until Friday or - god forbid - NEXT WEEK. (please let it be Friday PLEASE.)

there's a delicious slowburn but the romance is not immediate nor easily won, and it doesn't last, which makes the sequel even more exciting. the fantasy is fascinating with such a huge mystery/conspiracy and a revolution brewing at every angle.

also Nina Varela is an ARMY on top of being a fantastic writer and I'm afraid I may have to stan

I have to say I was sceptic to the plot at first. A human and designed, machine-made “human” set to fall in love? Um… weird, I thought. And these “humans” rule the world… okay. But I had heard really good things about this book. And it’s sapphic. So I decided to pick it up. And I am glad I did. Easy to say I was pleasantly surprised!

This book was beautiful! Enemies to lovers is something that I will always adore. I loved Crier and Ayla’s relationship and how it changed. How both were conflicted and were so deep in their past but also wanting to be together. I really hope they find each other again and things turn out ok. They both are victims of their pasts and traumas so aren’t thinking so clearly. I understand Crier’s desperation to still want to trust her ‘family’ because it’s all she’s ever known. I love how she truly loves Ayla and it isn’t just because of a malfunction in her design.
