For anyone unfamiliar with Cheryl Brook's Cat Star Chronicles my advise to you would be to go buy the first 8 and read them between now an February 5th. Each book is a stand alone story and it can be read as such however you will miss some of the subtext of the world and be less likely to understand the secondary characters.

With the murder of his lover and fluffer from the Zetithian Palace brothel, Jerden escapes to the relative quiet of Terra Minor where he has purchased a ranch to isolate himself. Our first glimpse (and Sara's as well) of Jerden is returning a run away stallion to Sara's ranch where she is a horse breeder and trainer. What makes this memorable (for me as well as Sara) is that Jerden is stark naked when he comes riding in. Drool :OP

Sara has moved from Earth to start her horse business on Terra Minor specifically to avoid men as much as she can. She has to brush off the occasional advance from fellow rancher Nathan Wolmack but nothing she can't handle. Sara is immediately in awe of Jerden but that doesn't change her desire to not have men in her life.

Jerden is not sure how to take Sara he is used to having women throwing them selves at him, while he moved to get away from that Jerden is not sure why Sara never smells of desire but he is drawn to her none the less. Zetithian males are aroused as much by the smell of their partners arousal as their own, and this as well as having some performance issues caused by guilt over his lovers murder by a crazed woman stalker is a situation Jerden has never experienced.

With the main threat to the Zetithian race removed in Stud (book #8) the conflict and life or death struggle in this book comes from a little closer to home. As Sara and Jerden spend more time together they are more and more attracted. We are also treated to most of the characters from past books making brief cameo's in this book, I love hearing how many litters they have had. Wildcat seemed to have less sex than some of the previous books in the series but I think the sexual tension and the sex that was included were smoking hot.

If you like you sci-fi with an erotic edge then you will love this series and this is another fantastic book in an already great series.
I received my ARC copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This is the first book in the Cat Star Chronicles that I have read, and it is definitely a stand alone novel. I never felt lost or left out because the book focused solely on the lead character’s who were new to each other. The sex scene’s were definitely a hot read, and while the emotional turmoil was great to read, there was a lack of adventure as well as outside conflict. Conflict created by other chraracter’s did appear, but it was at the very end of the book. I wish the book had been a bit more of a swashbuckling adventure.

It seems that earlier stories in the series were more drama filled, so I will be going back to check those out. I will also be sticking with this series. I liked the style of writing and the world created for the character’s. I look forward to more stories from Ms. Brooks.

Too quick a change from 'I don't want to see talk to anyone' to I'm going to seduce her for me.
