Love a second chance romance, and especially when the reasons for not being together aren’t ridiculous. Also love a found family and the whole series is great-I would read any side character’s story any day of the week.
An easy and comforting reread

I am a HOE for retellings and Sleeping Beauty was my FAVORITE Disney movie growing up. Also, childhood friends-to-part ways-to-lovers, so second chance-ish are my FAVORITE tropes to read.

Evie left home and pursed her dream of becoming a chef and has a very successful career with a TV show. On a night of celebration, Evie suffers from an accident leaving her with amnesia. In order to heal from this trauma and stay out of the limelight, she goes back home to lay low.

Zach, Evie's childhood crush, ends up helping Evie in her journey to getting her memories back. And the two rekindle their spark.

When Evie's memory returns, will she still feel the same about Zach??

I loved everything about this book!! Zach is defiantly a cowboy to remember.

Quick disclaimer: I’ve read some truly remarkably second chance romances lately so that *may* have inadvertently affected how I approached this book.

I kept getting Hallmark vibes from this, and I just wasn’t vibing. Which is a shame honestly. I will say, if you’re an audiobook girly, this one was great! It’s why I didn’t DNF sooner than I did, that’s how good the narrator is.

💬: “Well, hey there, little lady,” he said in that fake Southern accent that made her laugh and drove her crazy all at the same time. “I haven’t seen you around these parts before.”

A Cowboy to Remember by Rebekah Weatherspoon is the first book in the Cowboys of California series, it's the first western I've ever read and it was very cute. Evie Buchanan is a chef who has a spot on a morning show and she has recently lost her memory from a accident at an industry party. After waking up with amnesia she's informed that there's only one person on her emergency contact list, a sexy African American cowboy named Zach, apparently from her past. Zach messed up the first chance he had with Evie, now that he has a fresh start, will he be able to convince her to fall in love?

Evie and Zach were cute together, and almost all of the side characters were really nice. I don't think this was my favorite romance story, but I did enjoy the read. I can not see myself reading this again though, because of the slow pacing in the middle of the book. It feels as if not much happens for a bit and I hate when I feel like the plot is stalling. I did like the epilogue.

The spicy scene was okay, there was only one if I remember correctly. It wasn't my favorite spicy scene and I honestly wish there were more, but I understand that the author is trying to tell an actual story that's not exactly an erotica. I'm giving the spicy scenes two point seventy-five chilies 🌶️🌶️.75 out of five chilies

Overall this romance was okay, there were cute moments, a few moments that were boring, and the one spicy scene was alright. I'm giving this 3 out of 5 stars.

A Cowboy to Remember by Rebekah Weatherspoon was a fun read but definitely had some room for improvement. While the storyline itself was a fun set up (a famous female black chef loses her memories and falls in love with a hot cowboy), there wasn't quite enough detail in the characters to be honest. I enjoyed the building of the environment they were in. It was fun to see how this family is successful both in the movie/tv industry and in the vacation industry, but I do wish that Weatherspoon had put more thought into the people. You could tell that the Pleasant brothers, actually the whole family, really cared about Evie, the famous chef, because they grew up together, but the main focus really seemed to be on how hot they were as cowboys, rather than having a personality worth falling in love with. Overall, it was a fun and sexy read, but I don't think it was as detailed as it could have been. The ending seemed rush and just too easy. I would love to see another story about Jesse though.

Evie Buchanan is a chef who loses her memory, not just a little bit but all the way. She doesn’t remember who she is at all. Her assistant doesn’t know what else to do so she contacts the closest thing to family she has. They happen to run a luxury ranch in California where Evie grew up. She doesn’t remember the ranch until Zach gets to her hospital room. When he walks in, she realizes that she has been dreaming of him.
Zach and Evie haven’t seen each other in years. The last time was when their families decided to make sure that Evie and Zach would be nothing more than friends. Evie tried to get him to see that they could be more than friends, but Zach wasn’t having it and so Evie left the ranch and California. But now that they are back together in the same place Zach refuses to let her go again. His only problem is that she doesn’t remember that they have a history.
The one thing I liked about this book was that you were about to see the healing happening. The communication that hadn’t been there before was repaired and things that families tend to not deal with, they are now dealing with.
This was a great book. Thank you to NetGalley for giving me a copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
