Not my favorite work by Audre Lorde, but still thought-provoking. It's quite sickening how the incidents she writes about and the way she engages with those incidents in her writing are still so relevant in 2017.

Loved it!!! Will be returning to the “A Burst of Light” essay especially.

It is eerie to read Lorde's writing about the US role in South America and apartheid South Africa amid the US's continued support of Israel. The 'A Burst of Light' journal entries are particularly inspiring to read. Lorde's resilience in the face of her terminal diagnosis offers a timeless lesson in hope against all odds.

“enough moxie to chew the whole world up and spit it out in bite-sized pieces, useful and warm and wet and delectable because they came out of my mouth” is maybe my new favorite sentence from something I’ve read… ever?
