Ugh, no. Hate the writing style and the main character is insufferable. An intriguing premise isn't enough to make up for those two things.

I can’t believe this is a debut novel. The story is fantastic with so many twists and turns I did not see coming. This book explores themes of power, class, identity, expectations and sacrifice in a way that mirrors our own world. I did find some phrases to be a little repetitive and overused but I still found it to be a really powerful and engaging read. I also love a flawed main character and Darrow fits that archetype perfectly.

I absolutely loved the way love and grief are explored throughout this book. I don’t want to spoil so all I’ll say is that compared to literally every other book I’ve read, this one is the most realistic in portraying accurate thoughts and emotions. Very, very well done.

This felt both like something I’ve read before and something entirely new. Pierce Brown took some familiar tropes and put his own spin on it which made this a well paced, page-turning experience of a read.

This book is fun but it definitely has a casual sexism problem

I read this book in two days it was that good! I loved it! The characters were all so lovable, the plot was brilliant and I loved all the twists. It kept me on the edge of my seat. It's a sci fi book with a mashed up together story of mistborn, hunger games and fourth wing. I'd say it was on a par with mistborn and I loved that one! I'm interested to see where the story goes from here and even though he's really violent I still love Darrow ngl.
Also, if Eo has no haters I'm dead
