It was a fun, fast read. I'm on to the next in the series.

As hinted by the great cover, this chick lit-paranormal romance is quirky. It isn't deep or complicated. Its light and fun. This was my first Witchy paranormal-chick lit. I enjoyed the humor and was especially intrigued by the concept of Vatican witch hunters(which has great scary plot potential and could easily fill a novel – but it’s a plot line the author does not delve into too deeply).

Instead of carrying the novel, the whole Vatican assassins’ thing is just a backdrop. Yes, there are some action sequences between the assassins and our protagonists (a hipsteresque witch named Garnet incognito as a Goth). There is a love triangle introduced between Garnet, Sebastian (a vampire/warlock), and Parrish (a vampire/highwayman). This definitely isn't the best chick lit or paranormal romance I've read, but it's entertaining and helped me to pass the time enjoyably.

Light Fun

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are very well written and there is a good supporting cast of minor characters including Garnet's friends and co-workers. The story line is fast paced with plenty of action and a lot of humor that had me laughing out loud in places.

A slow start but it picked up fairly quickly.

After what has felt like an intense reading month for myself, I wanted something I didn't have to think and chew over and this meet my brief beautiful total chick lit sprinkled with a bit of bite. Perfect for the beach. A long awaited tbr removed read in one even though I was going to stop half way. I think this may be the start of a series but I don't think I would be interested in it enough to find them I'm glad I picked it up though. SOILD 3
