Not sure how to rate this one. I liked the writing style and most of the characters, but the pacing felt like it dragged in several places without any real sense of plot. I think my biggest issue was that a lot of subplots or scenes where it seemed like it could be a new subplot were brought up without any real impact to the story, and it came across like page filler more than anything. That being said, Andrea and Suresh were the clear centerpiece of the novel and I liked the ending (even if I wished we had more of the aftermath!).

Hilarious, fun, and smooth read. This is the book that has made me laugh out loud the most. The book ends in “happily ever after” and is cheesy, unoriginal, and convenient. However, I didn’t read this book for complexe relationships and emotions. I read it because it’s just so much fun. I will definitely be reading Lauren Ho’s newest book.

I’m begrudgingly giving this a 4....Andrea is a love to hate character... She makes such horrible choices over and over again but she does find her self and the very very very end.

Tried the audio book and the physical book but couldn't get into it.

Fun and light, but a bit lengthy. I wasn’t mad about the “enemies to lovers” trope, but I also don’t read much in the romance genre to feel jaded by it.

I don’t care if this isn’t the venue for it, but I have to say it: I’m really bored of and annoyed by descriptions of fiction/romance books written by Asian authors as: “Crazy Rich Asians meets [insert well-known White rom com.]” Because all they’re really saying is, it’s like this story, but with Asians!! And that’s not cool, for a multitude of reasons. So please stop.

I loved this not because of the plot nor the characters, but the incredible humor. So many relatable moments too when it comes to Asian parents' expectations. The audiobook was really good, and I loved getting super intimate insight on the main characters' thoughts because of the diary entry format. Will definitely be reading from this author again!

While there were some fun Crazy Rich Asian luxury aspects that were fun and I love a sarcastic strong female lead, there was a big plot point I struggle with

Spoiler

My biggest issue with it is that the coworker is engaged and coming after the lead/making moves and professing feelings while still moving forward with his fiancé /wedding plans and didn’t end things until wayyy later, which is gross. I liked their friendship and connection and i think I’d be less bothered if it was just his gf and not fiancé, bc to me that’s a bigger commitment and should mean something.. I get that feelings and things can happen unexpectedly, but if and when it does, he should have ended things w fiancé when he was trying to kiss lead and definitely before he tells her he’s got feels. I would have preferred him say ‘I ended things back when I started falling for you and have been trying to tell you’, rather than ‘I professed my love to you weeks ago and dumped her yesterday’
