I really liked Minkyu Jung's illustration and he's back for some of the issues in thos volume. The social commentary is half-baked in the earlier issues. It might be too short or Monopoly/Rubicon were already introduced in other issues I'm not sure but they're quickly defeated here with less observations on the implications of what happened.
Also here Kamala was facing the idea of her father dying which is a very mortal/human problem that I don't think was explored much in comics; usually the person already died and it's about handling grief. But the dread of looking at it and you feel powerless, it's tackled but I guess showing it more would have helped. Instead we're shown a usual story of balancing normal and superhero life especially when normal life is so important. Then there's a quite easy way out of it thru Doctor Strange.
Lastly, a new villain was introduced which was a sort of manifestation of her evil self or a miscalculation of her self. It's full of actions and I guess not much depth.

In which matters become complicated, as they tend to do, with Kamala's father terminally ill (though an operation by surgeon-mystic, Dr. Strange, might offer slim hope), Kamala's and Bruno's culturally forbidden relationship deepening, an epic, unexpected battle with Mr. Hyde raging out of the hospital and across Hamilton Park, and the Kree battlesuit revealing its true nature (called it!). The art by Joey Vazquez and Minkyu Jung is fabulous, and also--almost forgot!--there's a not-so-subtle broadside fired at our own oligarchs--Bezos, Musk, and Zuckerberg, especially--in the form of a villain named--wait for it--Monopoly!

The underlying relationship stuff between Kamala and Bruno is meh. And is it just me or was Zoe fat in the first volume? And then they made her skinny again? Meh.
I did really love the Rubicon mind controlled workers.

Ahmed continues his great teen comic streak. Family drama, romantic complications and bad guys to beat up. His runs on Miles and Kamala are fun and heartfelt and great continuations from the original creators.

This was only a three star... or maybe even a little less. I don’t love the art style that the new rendition has, and the plot of this whole volume was pretty boring and repetitive. I’ll still look into future volumes, but I’m really starting to miss the old series.
