This book was truly great and fun and mysterious. Ultimately it was too character driven for me to stay engaged. For fans of character driven books this one is great!

The first 10% took me a little while to get into, but once you get to the first hen do, things really start picking up. You get the backstory on all of the main characters through different timelines, but also through their own POVs. And even though the POVs change literally from one paragraph to the next, it's pretty easy to keep up with whose eyes we're seeing things through.

There are a lot of twists in this book, and I don't think I guessed even one correctly. I was flying through this book trying to figure out who had done what, who knew what, and who was using who. Plus trying to figure out what the heck the secret they all had on one another was. And honestly, all of these characters are kind of shit, but you also kind of just love them for the hot mess they all are.

Now I wouldn't call this a thriller. I'd say it's a murder mystery mixed with The Real Housewives. So if you want a mystery that's filled with frenemy drama, then this is the one for you. It was a super fast, fun read. No regrets on my part.

Thank you NetGalley, Kate Weston, and Random House for an early copy in exchange for an honest review!

I was drawn to You May Now Kill The Bride by the fun title and cover, and I thought the synopsis was interesting. However, I was disappointed by the execution in several ways.

First and foremost, I thought this was going to be a mystery novel with some humor sprinkled through it, but this book was actually just a lot of drama and b*tching between "friends", and once in a while a dead body shows up. Although all friends have their own secrets (which makes the story a tiny bit mysterious), the main focus was always on the drama.

Secondly, I wasn't a fan of the writing style. It was written in 3rd person, and it wasn't like you were in one person's head, no, the thoughts of ALL characters were shown. It was honestly very tiresome to discern who was thinking what and who the "she" was the sentence was about.

Thirdly, the characters fell flat for me. I didn't like any of them and didn't connect with them. This could be due to the writing style.

Another thing I didn't like was the amount of drinking (alcohol) and smoking. It felt very unnecessary for the plot to include it that much. There was no point in them being drunk for a good chunk of the book.

Lastly, I found the ending very unsatisfying. I don't wanna spoil anyone, so I'll just leave at that.

If you love to read about a lot of drama and b*tching between women in their thirties, then you might want to give this book a shot. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. I'm sad I didn't like this one more.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Headline for an eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
