*Note: This series was actually started in the middle with The Shifters of 2040 and she left it to the reader to choose which way to go, past or future. I prefer to read in order so I started from the VERY beginning with The Invasion of 2020*

As usual, I LOVED it. Unfortunately life got in the way and I wasn't able to read as quickly as I would have liked or read the ending quite the way I normally would have. I plan on re-reading this one again someday. But that does not matter Ami did it again, I love this series and cannot wait to get the next book.

As I said in my first review
"I loved this book from the get-go. I feel like I was taken on a roller-coaster ride of emotions, at one point my heart was literally racing."

"I liked the different perspectives from nearly every character at some point."

Every review I feel like I can't say too much or else I'm just going to give too much away! And even putting on the "Spoiler Alert" isn't going to keep people from reading them.

I said in my review of The SCM of 2030-"The SCM of 2030 isn't quite as fast paced as The Invasion of 2020 was but that's ok.....I have a feeling a bigger stage is being set."
And I was spot on! The Shifters of 2040 had so much going on, between Mel & Bruce; Joelle & Brendan; Diamond & Keenan (oh Keenan...how I loved him) and then the SCM and Captain Raul which he gets a big fat glare from me! I am still waiting for Uri to come back....I hope he does.

As far as Im aware this series is in the talks of making into a movie, I really hope so...though I know I will be severely disappointed as I always am with books I truly love.

Shifters 2040 is a fresh new spin on an old story. In the 3rd book of the Shifter Saga we see Humans and shifters 15 years into a war. We discovered the alien race we named the shifters. Ruled by fear of the unknown, we waged war against the alien species that invaded our planet.

In a desire to defeat our enemies, we sought to learn all we could about the shifters. We experimented to learn their secrets. But with all things fueled by fear, the experimentation went too far. Leading to the question can humanity be humane?

I don't know the answer, but I enjoyed Shifters 2040 spin on the age old question. Filled with characters that were very likeable and very un-likeable. Yes, there were a lot of characters but each had their own personality so they could be easily identified. Ami Blackwelder sent me on a roller coaster of emotions. The story was evenly paced, with enough description that I became involved with the story. This book was definitely worth the read.

I found this to be a compelling read. The story line is exciting and contains many elements to make it believable. There is love and romance in the book as well as jealousy, power induced madness and action.
As this is book 3 you can choose to go forward or backward in this series. I have to know what happens to the children. I am unbelievably invested in them. I will probably go all the way to the final book before returning to the beginning.
