OH MY GOD!!! The Lady's Mine is one of my absolute favorite books of the year, and it's only early May!! I started reading it really early this morning and couldn't put it down. I had started it figuring I could read a chapter or two before bed, but that definitely didn't work! I started out reading with a flashlight, but then the sun started to rise (I hadn't even noticed)!!!! Though I am tired, The Lady's Mine was well worth the sleep-deprivation!  I DID attempt to put the book away SEVERAL times, but I'd ended up thinking about the book and couldn't fall asleep. I just ended up grabbing the book again!! (And things started getting interesting, only a CHAPTER into the book!! I was hooked from page 1!!)
The Lady's Mine reminded me of another one of my favorites (Gone With The Wind), but believe it or not, I liked this book's ending better!! Matthias and Kathryn were very lovable characters (I especially loved Matthias---, I mean, a southern cowboy with snark?! C'mon!!) .
I liked how this book had both happy/cute moments and sad/tragic/suspenseful moments. The plot was very diverse, but in a good way!
I was a bit tentative about starting The Lady's Mine because I usually find Christian fiction boring. But, this book is definitely different from other Christian books I've read. It wasn't an overly preachy story, and I liked how the characters weren't super stiff and proper and "perfect," which I usually find Christian book characters to be.
This book was really inspiring, too! I loved the feminist themes.

3.5 stars rounded up to four. A good, wholesome historical fiction, but nothing that wowed me or stood out from the rest. Maybe my expectations were too high after obsessing over Redeeming Love and The Masterpiece.

Just your run of the mill Christian fiction book.

I always enjoy Francine Rivers novels. This one gave Redeeming Love vibes as far as the setting, but with a totally different storyline. It’s nice to read a clean romance with God at the center! I also liked seeing a strong female character who also is a strong believer, and seeing topics like women’s rights addressed in the setting of the late 1800’s. There were some parts that dragged a little, but overall it was a very enjoyable read.
