The story of a giraffe and a boy who run into many different and random encounters in a very simple but cute rhyme scheme. The story has a very simple outline that builds and builds in a repetitive manner; with each rhyme adds a different detail and a new member to the story until reaching the climax and unraveling until it is solely the giraffe and the boy once again.
The black and white illustrations throughout the book is what brings life to the sometimes drawn out rhymes; the unique drawings spark the readers imaginations while also adding humor. This keeps the reader invested during times when it just feels like the simple rhymes are being drawn out. The pictures gave a clear visual of the story being told in the text.

I read this book to one of my clients and she loved it!!! It was definitely a fun book to read and it caught her attention in a way I haven't seen any other book do.
I had fun reading it to her and having her follow along.

This mysteriously showed up in my mail today, reminding me how much I absolutely love it. Aside from the fact that giraffes are my favorite animal, this book is just good, silly, happy fun - not something we see too often these days. 50 years old, it still holds up.

Supremely silly. Maybe a little too long for story time, though.
