House of Glass

I want to thank NetGalley & the author for giving me the opportunity to read this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

THOUGHTS:

Talk about a read! I read this faster than I intended because I didn't want it to end up I didn't want to stop it. Page after page you are thrown through loops, twists and turns. If you are a fan of murder mysteries, you will eat this up. This book is fast paced straight off from the get-go. Our MC Stella is an attorney and has to decide where a child who just lost her nanny in a tragic d3ath has to decide which of her currently divorcing parents she should go to while also trying to figure out what exactly happened to the nanny. Will she make the right decision, will she get lost too far in the investigation of what happened. This story will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time!

House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen is a typical thriller murder mystery. Stella is a lawyer that is assigned to Rose, a trauma induced mute child, with the goal of determining which parent Rose should live with after they divorced. The problem is that the mutism and divorce came about after Rose's nanny died by falling out of a window. Was it murder, suicide, or an accident that caused the pregnant nanny to plunge to her death? And what does Rose know that she is not telling?

The story unfolds slowly a bit at a time, Everyone seems like a suspect in the nanny's death including Rose herself. Stella's own person issues complicate her decision. This story is enjoyable but not an edge of your seat thriller, more like a slow burn with some twists thrown in. It is worth the read.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advanced copy. The opinions are my own.

I really liked this book! Rose is creepy as hell and it really ramps up the tension in this story. Every single character was a suspect for me at some point and I loved how believable these characters were.

I would call this a slow and consistent burn that kept my attention. I found the end to be satisfying and will definitely be picking Sarah’s other books!

I received this as an ARC.  Mystery is not usually my genre.  This is a story of Stella, who is a court appointed investigator assigned to determine which parent Rose should live with after their divorce.  Rose witnessed the death of her nanny and currently does not speak.  The story evolves into Stella determining whether the Nanny's death was an accident or murder.  She is also trying to figure out if Rose is dangerous or someone else in the house is dangerous.  Basically a vacation read for me.  If you like mysteries it might get a higher rating from you.

Thank you to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for the ARC! Sarah Pekkanen does it again!! Solid 4 star read! The story kept me quessing what was going to happen next. Many tense moments which will keep the readers attention to find out what was going to happen next (for me anyway). Great character development and growth.
Great mystery/thriller I highly recommend.

TWISTED ! Get ready for a rollercoaster ride with dark tunnels and blind curves. I thought I knew, thought I got it right, I was so sure. I wasn’t I never saw that ending coming, never ! It’s so hard to review this without spoiling the story. it was really two stories in one, double fun.
There was a death, and then there was a divorce, and a custody battle. Seems normal right ? Wrong. These people are off center, way off. Secrets, lies, manipulation, more lies, and a child that is different to say the least.
The MC who was representing the child in the custody battle had her own closet of darkness that slowly opened that added another level of Eeeekkk to the story.
Excellent pacing, well written characters and a wicked twisting.

House of Glass is my first Sarah Pekkanen novel and it will not be my last. I'm at a loss for words on how to describe it... without giving away spoilers. House of Glass is creepy, thrilling, mysterious and I can't recommend it enough!

House of Glass was a highly anticipated read for me and I was so excited to get my hands on an early copy! It was a great binge-worthy thriller that kept me guessing all the way through. I was immediately swept up in the storyline, and loved how the suspense continuously built throughout the book. Every single member of the Barclay family seemed to have nefarious intentions, and I didn’t know who to trust. I felt as though the plot lost some momentum through the middle. However, the ending was SO GOOD! I had a few theories about how things would play out, but the ending was a million times crazier than anything I could’ve ever dreamed up.

I loved buddying reading this one with @britt.loves.reading 🤍.

Read if you like:
