Listen. I love this book. I love how aggressive Heraclitus is in his defense of Homer and his attack on Plato and Epicurus and I love how he incorporates Homer's quotes into his own arguments and I love how absolutely certain he is that his worldview is so totally true and obvious and what Homer also believes. I love how he takes the slightest excuse to allegorize every aspect of Homer's poem and I love his ludicrous etymologies. It's beautifully translated and it's well written and it's fun!! Listen!! I had fun!! This book is literally laugh-out-loud funny.

I mean, also listen obviously I think Heraclitus has a [mostly] valid method of isolating Homeric problems and also his attempt to present one coherent narrative which resolves those problems is, if not super effective, at least admirable.
