really beautifully written/translated but a lot slower than the other books i’ve read recently so I wish there was just …more going on. still enjoyed though

El Gran Gatsby català, it's true, it's true.

En realitat, per molts de paral·lelisme que tengui amb sa novel·la d'en Fitzgerald (jardiner = nick, francesc = tom, rosa maria = daisy, eugeni = gatsby, sa mort en un cos d'aigua...), Jardí vora el mar te un argument molt més lleuger i tranquil. Es narrador és observant i ses escenes que descriu son tendres i escrites amb sa prodigiosa prosa de sa meva estimadeta Rodoreda.

Però és que un poc avorrideta eh... Pensava que un narrador masculí per part de na Mercè seria molt interessant, però m'he trobat enyorant ses meves dones desquiciades. Encara que sa crítica de classes que a través des personatge d'es jardiner l'ha salvat. Llegir sobre sa burgesia catalana en una perspectiva irònica sempre se gaudeix.

5/7... S'acosta es dia on no me quedaran novel·les de na Rodoreda.

Reading this novel was like having an intimate conversation complete with asides and meanderings, in part bc the narrator is so richly drawn that he felt like a real person spilling the gossip on the owners of the villa he worked at. I was saddened to part ways with the gardener. 
Knowing that his is a way of life in its wane adds a poignancy to the story.
