Michael Connelly has 2 main characters, Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch, an LAPD detective, and Mickey Haller, a defence attorney. This book contains both, but focuses on Haller, as he is accused of murder, after a body is found in the trunk of his car.
I didn’t much like this book.
In the book, we see Haller duck and weave, as he tries to find the real killer. In the process, he has to portray the police as either lazy, or incompetent for nor asking “Is there someone who hated the victim, and wanted to harm Haller?”, because if they asked it, the book would have been 15 pages, or very very different. This despite the fact a body was shot in his garage, and found in the trunk of his car.
My other issue is that Connelly has to spend at least some of the book posing the questions “Did he do it?” and “Might he get sent down?”. We know what the final decision will probably be, but you need to have some doubt, for the book to work, and I felt Connelly harmed Haller in the process.
If you can suspend your disbelief better than I can, you’ll probably enjoy the book more than I did.

Started off great, but fell back on some common Connelly tropes, with some moments needing a suspension of belief thrown in. And let's face it, the ending was bad and just seemed like he didn't know how to end the story. Overall I was a bit disappointed
