A thrilling and perfect ending to an action packed series middle schoolers will love! Had me staying up late with its page turning action. Expertly written.

I think ending it as a trilogy would've been better, but I still liked the last two books

This was an amazing book! After book 4 I was slightly concerned but I needn’t have worried. The Shattered Castle was filled with as much suspenseful conflict, stupid decisions, finely crafted plot twists, and witty remarks, as the original trilogy. I loved the complexity of the novel, namely how the author wove so many subplots together without dropping or forgetting about any of them.
This was the first of the books where I could anticipate when Jaron was about to do something crazy, though I never could guess what. I especially enjoyed the agency the supporting characters gained, especially Imogen. I found myself wanting to smack Jaron for not believing in his friends a few times, though the explanation of the cause of his self-sufficient tendencies allowed me to understand where he was coming from.
I think it was a fitting end to the series. I was very thankful for the way it ended naturally, as opposed to how some authors tie up the ends so tight it feels as if the characters lives end with the book. Many thanks to the author for writing this incredible series as well as being open to books 4 and 5. I truly believe this was the perfect ending.
