The text would probably be much easier to read. Not that the author doesn’t have a nice voice, it’s just that his reading voice needs more inflection to hold the audience’s attention. The book reads as a text but has potential to be so much more interesting.

I loved this book and I loved hearing it read by the author. Slowed it down to regular speed, even! Highly recommend. Lots of unexpected tidbits about grief and death (my jam), along with general wisdom, poignant and funny Lakota folk stories, gentle remembrances about Marshall's family, and a somehow less-judgmental assessment of colonialism and the history of the United States. That's one white lady colonizer's impression, anyway.
